asher roth's newest track might not go down as one of his best productions, but its message is as timeless as ever. he preaches a closer connection to the earth, both through hanging outside and eating wholesome food. he weaves these ideas together nicely to create a catchy, laid-back tune. enjoy.
here's a feel-good summer song that should brighten up everyone's first full week of may. this song might feel a little superficial, but the lyrics are quite witty and the hook, provided by Julian Roso is so laid-back and chill. i think that my favorite part of this song is the the instrumental of what sounds like flutes, which i think is what makes this song feel so much like summer. enjoy.
timeflies' newest track is something special. they've intruded on hollowed grounds remixing "empire state of mind" a track that is both difficult to remix and hard to compare to vocally and lyrically. timeflies takes a stab at it and i think they really succeed. rez, the producer, is able to manipulate the beat to make the song more fun and upbeat than the original. while it cannot really be compared to the original, it's an awesome song that you should all listen to.
SAVOY has been off recently but i really like this new track because it's got a little bit more house in it than their regular tracks. for those who don't know SAVOY has produced some of the most epic songs on bigos..."hella good" and "california dreamin" are both SAVOY masterpieces. this track is different than those two, but i think that it is awesome in its own respect. enjoy.
mashup germany just released their newest mixtape "back to the future," and it really goes hard. all of the tracks fit together so seamlessly; their sound is really unique. they are doing a lot more cross-genre mashing up than any other group i can think of. often it's easiest to fit together songs with similar beats per minute, generally in the same genre, but these tracks have been mastered to work perfectly crossing genres. here is my favorite track on the album. i've heard "numb encore" remixed and mashed up a lot, but never has it been paired with such juxtaposing house music. awesome track. enjoy.
so we dropped a full-length, live set that avicii did at super glow, and this was definitely one of the best tracks on that playlist. avicii really cannot produce a song without turning it to gold. anyone that likes avicii will really enjoy this song. i think that it will definitely become a fixture at summer parties everywhere.
this is probably my favorite song that i've come across through blogging (that is discounting old songs and the like). off of the bibio instrumental "lover's carvings," the blue scholars go in and create a track that is definitely greater than the sum of its parts. blue scholars are great rappers and the instrumental is perfect, but together the synergy they create is is unparalleled. enjoy.
the white panda's newest mashup album, "bambooyah" wasn't very exciting, i think because their style has had numerous other artists slipping in and diluting the overall content of the genre. they re-released this track (giving a full-length version as opposed to the 1 minute snippet in their continuous mix) and i think it's really solid. definitely a party song, white panda is sticking to what they're best at. this should be a permanent fixture at those upcoming summer bangers. enjoy.
DJ Maseo put together one of the best beats that I've heard in a while. usually hiphop beats are drum based, or are produced artificially, but this one is based off a hendrix-esque electric guitar sample. mac miller absolutely destroys the beat. this song feels a lot like "the miller family reunion." enjoy the funky beat.
commemorating being chosen as part of the XXL Freshman Class, Macklemore and Rynan Lewis dropped this track. i will admit that this isn't one of my favorite macklemore tracks, as it is definitely on the poppier side. when macklemore is rapping, the song is solid, but it gets significantly bogged down by the hook and poppy instrumentals. i think you all will enjoy this song, but i would just say that macklemore has done a lot better over his career than this track.
sammy adams just released the video for his newest tune, "summertime", a quintessential summer tune that is as feel-good as anything else out there right now. he borrows the hook from his first tune "i hate college (remix)," which obviously isn't the best thing to do, but i think that the song as a whole is very original in nature, and i think this should prove to be a popular track. enjoy one of this year's first summer songs.
so by now you know what this is. timeflies have been putting out new music every tuesday for a while, and their tracks have evolved from essentially hitting the record button on garage band to the production masterpieces that they are today. this track falls into their sub genre of "electro hip pop dub-something." enjoy the music.
viceroy has taken the mark morrison song "return of the mack" and jazzed it up, adding some fresh guitar riffs and a steadier drum beat. viceroy has successfully encapsulated summer and everything associated with it in an ever-too-short 4:00. the song just feels good to listen to. this is the third song ing their "jet life" series of remixes, and i think that they have really succeeded with this one the most. i honestly think that every single person who listens this song will download it instantly. enjoy.
damian marley has established a reputation for crossing genres. his reggae style has often been combined with other world-class artists to create never-before-heard sounds. i think everyone probably remembers the album "distant relatives" which was a collaboration by nasir jones and damian marley which has since been the definition of reggae-inspired rap music. here he collaborates with skrillex, and the results are unbelievable. anyone who is a fan of hard-hitting bass will love this song.
